I've always wanted to draw an elephant. I enjoyed working on this as the texture of the elephant's skin is quite different. It's something I would also like to do again. Used my own photographic references.

Its awsome It almost looks just like a back and white photo. You did an amazing job with the texture and shading I have lots of trouble with shading with pencils so I think you did a wonderful job on this.

oh, wow! You got exceptional skills using pencils! I remember the little mouse with the scary detail and now this! It's almost like it's been traced from the real photo. I had some fine art lessons trying to put statues on paper and I know how hard it is to do something like that. well done!
Oh my, he's so adorable! He actually looks like he's smiling ^^ The little details are great, like the wrinkles and cracks in the skin and the thin hairs on the lower lip. I love the foreshortening on the trunk, it's like I can reach out and touch him *-*
Did you have to read George Orwell's Shooting an Elephant in school? We just finished up our essays unit in English, so your drawing made me remember it. It's so sad! I had a nightmare because of it ;;
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
When it comes to community spirit, `Rushy is a shining example. From participating in devmeets, to providing positive encouragement to other artists, `Rushy can always be found demonstrating what it really takes to be a true deviant. It's without any hesitation that we are delighted to award the Deviousness Award for July 2009 to `RushyRead More
