...I absolutely *ADORE* the background, it is so beautifully painted!! The colours and textures are gorgeous, and just the whole mood you've set up with the sun streaming through the leaves...*WOW*. As usual, your attention to detail on the characters' clothes and the scenery is simply amazing; I can't take my eyes off the girl's tunic, the colour and everything are so pretty!!

CC: Biggest thing I noticed is how "stiff" the man looks. Where you've really captured a sense of movement in the girl's movements with her pose and the way her hair/clothes are flying behind her, his pose and face could really be more "free". Also, both of them seem kind of "copy-and-pasted" into the scenery; Maybe place more emphasis on their shadows/make their feet touch the grass to make the characters and background seem "connected"?

Otherwise, though, super-great job; The motion blur on the figures is a nice touch. And dude, I want that background on my desktop, it is way too gorgeous.

Actually .. *ahem* .. it's set at night. The light is from the stars. The premise is that it is so dark that the human male cannot see, hence him looking a little out of sorts. However, in the story, elves can see in the dark and so I illustrated the scene as if we could see what the elf is seeing. Her legs are intentionally lifted off the ground in order to show off her speed too.

It's interesting to know what you see without the context of the story though. I would like to know if you think any differently with it. You know I love critique.

I am really pleased you like it. The clothes as well as the background. I was given the choice to illustrate that as I wanted. I'm really trying to get more into backgrounds so it was a great learning process. I may do a desktop one at some point, if I can get it to look just as nice. I tend to paint backgrounds with less constraint .. maybe I need to do that with my figures. I don't know.

Yes, huge size! My computer's from the past year and I just added some more memory, but it still required a lot of sitting around waiting for it to save. Not good! I may not be doing that again, hehe.

As always Leigh, you always ace it. The depth of the colours and the forest is overwelming. It really looks like the characters are flowing forwards in the picture. So real.
